African civil society statement is in response to the open consultation on the report and recommendations of the Task Force Rural Africa “An Africa-Europe Agenda for Rural Transformation.”

The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa is a broad alliance of civil society actors who are part of the struggle for food sovereignty and agroecology in Africa. These include African food producer organizations, NGO networks, indigenous people’s organizations, faith-based organizations, women and youth groups, and consumer movements. Its members represent smallholder farmers, fisherfolk, pastoralists, hunter/gatherers, indigenous peoples, faith-based institutions, and consumers across Africa.
